Ben trained at Redroofs Theatre School attending full time from the age of 13, going on to complete the theatre diploma, graduating at 18.

He then worked as an actor and dancer performing in a variety of productions in Theatre, Film and Television.

His workshop experience began when playing Romeo in Romeo and Juliet at the Eye Theatre in Suffolk and as a member of the theatre company, 1157, which toured nationwide, with their productions of Hamlet and the devised piece, Transmission.

Whilst acting on screen in a number of short films Ben furthered his production experience by helping out with various tasks when not performing.

Building on these skills he was the Production Manager on the featurette, “Solomnence”, with Ben Waters, Huggy Leaver, Marcus Pirae and Anna Winslet, (2001. Dir. Ali Sade).

This film gave him his first taste of drama coaching when asked to prepare the actors for some harrowing emotional scenes.

Subsequently he Production Managed the short, “Ready”, (2002. Dir. Silvia Delacour), a graduation film from the National Film and Television School, which starred the Oscar nominated actress, Imelda Staunton.

This film was also nominated for a student Academy Award at the 2003 Oscars.

With the same team Ben Produced the winning entry “Bollywood Smooth”, for the student Kodak Commercial Awards that year and it was whilst working as 2nd A.D. on their third production together, the Film Four short, “Strange Little Girls”, that Ben became a licensed chaperone.
